MutleyUrbanMesh are bringing fast wireless internet access to you in Mutley plus with SnS in Lewes, Hastings, Eastbourne, Chailey, Rodmell, Burwash, Highwoods, Northam, Heacham and several other areas which are developing all the time!
The communities are able to surf the web off any of our wireless access points, otherwise known as hotspots, for just 1.50 a day, 6.95 a month or 60 a year!
Setting up an access point at your home or business with an outdoor under 1m high aerial costs around 210-250. In many cases grants are available of approx 200 to cover set up fees for businesses. New users can generally get connected for between 40 and 90! If you already have a wireless enabled laptop/phone or PDA you could connect immediately with only the daily/monthly charge payable!! We make our own units out of recycled pc's to keep costs low.
As well as broadband at home or the office, all users can surf freely off any of the other SnS nodes in Sussex, Devon, Essex and Norfolk. Our current map is available under coverage in the Menu.
The technology works by sharing existing fast internet connections with the community using a small aerial. We now have over 100 hotspots operational in Sussex, Essex, Devon, Norfolk and beyond.
We are currently looking for more nodes and repeater nodes in many areas including our new Laughton, Glynde, Burwash, Broad Oak, Mayfield and Mutley ventures. We need more access points in Lewes. We are currently strong in Malling, Cliffe and Pells, but need to develop a stronger user base in other areas of Lewes. We are also looking at developing further In Exeter and along the North Devon coast. Heacham beach in Norfolk has developing coverage and we are on target to grow further in this region. This is a non-profit making club run by volunteers and and admin based in many areas. People wanting to share their broadband get 5.50 of every 6.95 paid by each club user they share it with. So, share your broadband with a few users and get your own broadband for next to nothing.
Further details will follow soon. In the meantime your thoughts and ideas are welcomed
